I don't think I ever made it above 10mph in fact there was a warning not to exceed that in most areas when we went on the trail.

Found a vacuum line that was rotten through. Replaced it and now I have 4Lo! So excited.

I've had mine up around 35mph. I'm sure it wouldn't be a good idea to drive too far that fast in low range though.

yeah in first, it would be pretty slow, but if you are in first in 4 low, you are probably going up something steep or crawling some rock. the idea is to keep the trans from shifting back and forth, which is hard on the clutch plates and can burn them up faster. remember, every time an automatic shifts, the clutch plates slip on each other....do it enough times and then you have to replace/rebuild it.

I really only use 4high when it snows.
4low 2nd gear all the way. Works great and I only use 1st for really bad stuff

I live about 45 minutes away from Niagara Falls and I took my blazer to an off road park about 3 hours away in Bob cageon and it did amazing in 4low second gear. Airing down the tires was even better though I gave up a lot of the little bit of ground clearance I had. All in all it did exactly what I wanted it too and even more. Mud never fazed, snow never made it flinch, and it crawled over rocks no problem.

running 4low in 2nd gear always scared me as it seems to shift from 1st to second really quick. but thats just me. its probably personl preference and what kinda terrain you are doing.

like i said in my previous post i run 4low but thats cause my s10 is underpowered and have 33s with 373 gears go it works great.

my k30 has a 400ci 4.11s and 33 inch tires, i run that thing in 4high as it has no problems powering through anything. so it all kinda depends on what you got

With a 4l60 in a second gen when you shift into 2nd it will start in out 2nd gear and never downshifts back to 1st...

For me, 4lo and in drive works well but when I go to
4lo and 1st, I get loads of torque, but never do I exceed
5-6 mph, and for general trail running 4hi most of the time
Also using 1st gear for a little extra pull...very capable
Vehicles when used properly and with in there limits
