Battery question

i wouldnt reccomend optimas. i had a red top in my truck. within the first week it started overheating and leaking acid. one time i was driving for like a half hour. after i stopped i saw what looked like steam coming out from under my hood and thought something was wrong with my radiator, long behold the battery was shooting steam out of its filler caps. scary. i threw my old everstart back in the truck after sitting in the garage for a couple months and started right up like nothing ever happened. that optima just didnt have what it takes to handle my truck i guess.
i am also running a 600W amp but i never have it turned up to its full potential.

lol saddly I don't fit that boat, my 4 channel runs 625 watts rms (1600 watt peak) and my 2 channel runs 800 watts rms (2000 watt peak), so I may have exaggerated a little, but I do have 700 watts worth of just off road lights so thats 2100 watts which is 175 amps with everything on, stock alternator is rated at 100 amps at 2000 rpms at idle its probably 50-60 amps, so really if you want to run a small sub, 4 channel amp and off road lights you should probably upgrade your battery and alternator, the full size alternator should work good for you, but a deep cycle battery is always good, especially if you have a tendency to leave things on...

it wouldnt hurt to upgrade anything. but my 93 has the stock little 650 cca battery and running a 9000lb winch it works fine. sometimes if i run it for a long stretch like pulling myself up a hill it takes a while for the volts to come back up but years later no problems

maybe I missunderstood the guy at advance auto then... only problem I've had with mine was that the threading for the positive terminal is pretty shot since I unhook my batter a lot to mess with my stereo components..
