Colorado Offroading July 4th - Pics N Vids
Got home from our Colorado trip this year, the mining was GOOD, the driving was better!! If you are afraid your stock Blazer can't wheel, you might find the videos http://www.youtube.com/user/amazinnblazin very interesting! Most are in the Rio Grande National Forest in the Creede, Lake City, Silverton area. Some of the roads were VERY steep and all were rocky as can be. You might find the video of fording the Rio Grande River cool, or the Timber Hill video. I love all the vids, some are from inside, some from outside, and all are uploaded to YouTube so enjoy! Fun as a **** and we made it back safe, although I did hurt a muscle in my neck while mining...
Pics are http://community.webshots.com/album/573255609yrLaZz . If you're looking for a pic of the lost mine, good luck! I did get a great shot from above our campsite that was literally ON TOP of a gold mine. When I say ON TOP i mean ON TOP, when I hammered in the dog stakes you could feel the ground moving and hear the tunnel echo... http://image62.webshots.com/762/8/94...3SYkTAr_fs.jpg
The Carson Saddle video is my favorite, you can't tell how steep it is unless you really pay attention, My heart was pounding and I had to get out at one point to check the 'road' before going on. Backing up is not an option on these roads after a certain point...
My favorite pics are below
Below- through the willows surrounded by smoke from the campfire... campsite at 12000 feet above Beartown...

SWEET stuff. If I wasn't on the opposite of the state, going to school and working two jobs, I'd definitley take a trip to Colorado.

It was a 12 hour drive to the end of the pavement, then another 4 to camp... well worth it though. All of the videos are posted now!
