Default Looking at a K-5 can I have some info.

Hey guys im new to the site. My name is Shane.Iv always wanted a 4x4 but never had the money or ***** to buy one. They always seem to cost so much. Instead iv been in to mustangs cus thats what I could aford. Well now I drive a 84 Mustang with a 86 FI motor in it. Its nice but does need alittle work. I put it up on a site I go to saying that I might want to get rid of it. This guy with a K-5 send me something saying he wanted to trade and my mind just clicked and now I cant get the K-5 off my mind. I do have a few Q's to help eases my mind about the trade.

1. Is a K-5 worth more then a 84 Stang?
2. What kinda gas milage will I get out of a K-5?
3. Can a lifted K-5 be a good daily driver?
4. Do the tops come off every K-5?

Heres a list of what it has:
1978 k-5 4wd blazer runs and drives
350 motor,350 trans new oem carpet,
floor mats procomp 4 inch suspension
lift,3 inch body lift procomp shocks,
springs,steering arm eagle alloy
wheels 35 inch procomp tires.

Here is a link to the Factory literature on the '78 K5 Blazer. Click on the pics to make them bigger.

Gas mileage. Now that's funny.

Edit- Here are some more specs.

You should drop Chevy Lover a PM, or hopefully he sees this. It seems he is the authority when it comes to the fullsize Blazer.

I own a 78 K5 like the one you are looking at. I can offer this to say about it. Mine is my most favorite 4x4 I've ever owned and I'vehad alot. The short wheel base makes it an awesome offroad vehicle and it's got enough power to haul or pull all my toys. Mine is carburated. Onthe highway I average between 12 and 14 mpg, however keep in mind that I keep mytruck in perfect condition and it is not stock. I use theEdelbrock cam, intake and carb package with headers and dual exhaust. Also HEIignition and highquality plugs. In town you will be disapointed with the fuel efficiency. You'd be lucky with 8 mph. Iuse mine mostly for long camping trips, so I don't mind. I alsolove it forparts availability and low cost parts. When it breaks, whick is rare, I can fix anything thatcould possibly go wrong with it as well. It's not like these new trucks. As far as the value of your mustang vrs the blazer there isn't much difference as far a I would bet. Depends on the overall condition of either vehicle. Check thatblazer for body rot. If it's rusted up,it's value will be drastically reduced and I'd stay away from it.

I got a '77 350/350 carb and gas mileage uh well i get 12.5 absolute max with the top off. usually get about 10 avg. or you can check out http://woodsware.aciwebs.com/mileage...kScL1oQsz9HD-h
to know exactly what I get if your really interested. MPG depends al ot on the gears because I have 4.56 and with 33" tires I can forget highway mileage its revving so high. I just got 35"s so it wont be so bad. ditch the carpet and bedliner it with durabak or herculiner. And yes the tops come off the fullsizes. 7" lift with 35"s is a little overkill unless its some crazy flexy suspension. I'd almost ditch the body lift if i were you. If want more lift go with a shackle flip from offroaddesign.com or diy4x.com and zero rates or something. If it has the stock 3.73 gears (i think thats stock) youll get decent mileage with 35" but not a whole lot of power
