I have 33's with 3.73 gears and i wouldn't go with anything less. I'm actually planning on going to 4.56's soon.

let me know how that works out. I plan on getting 32's or 33's and going with 4.56's. After I buy some shackles and a body lift from some local dealer...

With a manual tranny you move the shock load to the axles. Risk breaking u-joints, and axle shafts.

It'll probably happen within the next year or two. Really depends on when my brother gets enough time to do 'em.

I missed the whole thing about .01 gear difference front to back. Nope.

you want the same gear ratio in teh front and rear axles. If your building a serious mud race truck that ionly runs in the Florida Everglades, then yes, run a different gear size up front. Those are the only guys I know that run different ratios. If this sees any street use, always run the same ratio in front and back.

By the way, this is why you cannot find .01 ratio differences for your truck. Its not recommended.

4.10, 4.56, or 4.88 are the best ratios for our trucks with 33" tires.

I know some guys that run a taller gear in the front 'caus it's supposed to help keep it going straight in the bog 'caus it keeps the front grabbing and basically draging the rear. I run the same both front and back.

A taller gear would make the fronts spin faster than the rear...
You mean shorter
3.08 = tall gears
4.56 = short gears

(for the people who happen to forget once and awhile which direction does what... like me, lol)

Thats what i said, taller to make the front spin faster. If you use a taller gear in the front the front will spin faster, keeping it grabing at the mud and pulling it forward. I ment taller.

I was referring to the OP's statement of needing a 4.11 front end when he's got a 4.10 rear...
