Well had a bit of stupid fun today lol! My buddy stopped by with his jeep and said hey lets go for a run quick... 3 hours later my blazer returned from an almost grave First off it was pouring rain with 1-2" expected today so its my own fault for being stupid (hence the stupid fun) but I decided hey I've got another truck with 4wd, good tires, and a winch so if I get stuck he can pull me out from behind.. Wrong!!!! I started making my way up the river towards a little island that I thought would be a safe spot to stop and turn around and head back wrong again. All was well until I hit the edge of that stupid little island and started sinking in the sand. I stopped immediately as soon as I felt it start to spin but it was to late with the water washing out the already soft sand below me I was stuck in about 3 seconds. Aright no big deal hook up his winch and pull me out right? Well we had winch line ran and hooked up and ready to pull and "aww F*** I don't have my winch controller!!!" CRAP!! So I say alright well you have 4wd come over here and pull me forward. He drives around me and we realize that if he tries to pull me he is going to be more stuck than I so scratch that idea. We jump in his jeep and run back to my shop to grab a pliers so I can engaged my winch cause I haven't finished welding my handle on yet and head back out. Oh did I mention it is also still pouring rain. We get back and the water level has risen substantially in the 15 minutes it took us to get there and back. So I get my winch going and start winching forward all is going well except the water keeps rising and the island is like quicksand at this point so my hope of getting turned around and just powering back the way I came is now lost. There is no other way out besides back the way I came or up a ridiculously steep hill so hill here I come. Ran my winch line up the hill and drug myself up the 15ft bank and onto dry land for the first time in 2 hours yayyyyy... well almost I still have to get off the side of this very steep hill somehow. It was way to long with nothing to tie a winch to past the top to go all the way up the hill so I had to navigate along the hill till I could get back out to safety. So I get started and realize the hill is steeper than I had anticipated in a few spots so I hook my winch uphill and kept tension on it so that I wouldn't flop. and with the help of my buddy for navigation and pulling winch I was finally free at last. Oh and then I go to check my phone to see how much time had past and its no where to be found so the search was on for that. Found it about 2 inches from the edge of the water. and now for a few pics sorry there aren't more but I was concerned about getting out of the river more than pics lol!

When I first got stuck. You can see where I came from here.

This was after 15 minutes so you can see how quickly the water was rising! This was me making my winch work.

Oh and this is what really wet sand and lots of tire spinning will do to a spray painted rim lol!

Yeah I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a few moments of real concern! If it hadn't been raining at the time it wouldn't have been a big deal but I know how fast that river rises. All in all the blazer did great I just tried to take it somewhere I had no business trying to take it at its current phase. I really wish I had some more pics of the extraction and crazy angles and flex I had winching up the bank.

We're getting some of that rain right now - hit 4.57" per hour just 15 minutes ago!! I see why the river rose so quick ...

Disaster averted - nice work!

That water was rising fast. The first picture didn't look that bad. It almost looks like you floated out into deeper water.
