I'm seriously thinking about getting a strap after I saw a badass 4Runner pull my friends Jimmy out of a rut with one. That's first I'd ever seen one of those. We were stuck for about 2 hours before that guy came along, guess 4wheelin with out 4wd aint such a good idea.

Lol no chit.
A proper recovery strap (one that stretches) is amazing. They actually say to take a run to pull someone out & if they don't move to back up & try harder. Take a longer run because the straps are made to stretch & have a slingshot effect, increasing pulling power to free a stuck vehicle.

I've never used a strap that stayed in one piece during a recovery. They always snap on me. A chain has never broken on me, however. Though a chain can break if you don't take the slack out of it before you start pulling (like when you take a running start).

I use a strap majority of the time. I do have a chain, 2 straps and a come-along.

For self-recovery? preferably a winch and ****** blocks in the front and a "widow maker" for the rear in conjunction with a strap to wrap around whatever I'm hooking up to to pull myself out.

If I'm out with a group...strap. It 's faster then pulling out winch cable.

A good recovery strap made for using a running start is the best but you better secure it to a good location and trust the driver pulling you out or you can still cause severe damage to either vehicle or hurt someone.

We've all probably seen our friends or others pulling people out of a hole or whatnot that didnt have a clue and just tearing sh&% up. Alcohol may or may not have been a factor??? IJS...

I prefer recovery strap, winch then chain. In that order and I keep all 3 on my truck.

strap mostly, but i also have a gnarly fat chain, about 10 feet long close to 80-90 lbs. no clue how strong it is but makes straps look like ski ropes

has anyone use those "bungee" straps? the ones that stretch like 8 or 9 feet and then recoil? i am looking to purchase a strap, but i was hoping to get some insight of the first hand experience.
