I can't wait either. I was thinking about getting a torsion crank and 2" shackles before the July trip, but now I'm not so sure with all the talk about wear and tear on CV joints and ball joints and what-not (I've been doing my homework). Grr! So much to think about.

What did you mean by this? If you are asking about my differential, the RPO code is G80, for the positraction limited slip axle. I found out about all my codes, and I have a 3.73 ratio positrac and the 4L60-E trans. Don't know what that means, but there ya go.

The G80 in these trucks stands for the Gov-Lock automatic locking rear diff. Not really a positraction diff.

Ah. My mistake. I found a website that decodes RPO codes, and when I typed them all in, the G80 was shown as, and I quote, "AXLE POSITRACTION LIMITED SLIP". The site is Here.

G80 is better than nothing which is what has. The next mod on my list to do is a locker/posi unit of some sort. I am thinking Powertrax, just need the dredded $$$. As far as the shackel/torsion bar crank goes just don't over do it and you should be fine.

Oh man, if you've got the G80 AND 3.73 gears then you do have a bit of an advantage over me. Oh well hopefully I'll still have some fun in between getting stuck lol

What does a locker do? Just give posi to an axle?

When the other guys on the forum talk about access wear, how bad are they talking? Like, 40-50% faster wear? Or is it a lot less, like, 15-25% faster wear? I would like to get an idea on just how much faster things wear out, before I go ahead with it.

just don't max your t-bars out that is all. i believe 1.5" is the same amount that i've seen. had a buddy cranked his all the way up. changed a cv with 2 weeks of doing that. so don't max them.
