So, it's kinda like traction control, but a lot more simple and a lot less electronic (cuz there is none).

"Designed to send the engine power to the wheels with the most traction..." -taken from that page you posted. That sounds a lot like traction control.

Not really,it will engage (lock) the wheels for full traction when needed and unload (unlock) the non-drive wheel when not needed.
