2nd Gen Console in 1st Gen?

I have a 94 Jimmy and i snapped the lid off my console awhile ago. Im looking for some alternatives and was wondering the 2nd gen console would fit into my 1st gen without much trouble?

unless it was wider for some reason, i dont see why you couldn't
