I just ordered a set of the 4dr flares from Jungle...

blazen_red_4x4 02-18-2017 12:07 AM

Nice! Can't wait to see them installed!

Now if someone would only make a bolt-on snorkel kit...

CWBDDSPC 03-07-2017 05:57 PM

To keep you updated, the flares arrived from Thailand last Wednesday. The plastic edge trim is crap, doesn't have any adhesive on it at all. Maybe its just for shipping, I do not know. So, I ordered some of the Bushwacker adhesive edge trim. Not a single piece of hardware in the box. Just two front flares, two rear flares and the pieces for the rear doors... I just did a dry fit five minutes ago and yes the flares will work. BUT this is not going to be as easy as the factory flares that I put on my 03 Yukon XL. As I start messing with them, I will post pictures etc... My initial impression though is I may only be buying one set of these:(

DonL 03-07-2017 07:22 PM

lucky you guys... im paying 322 canadian :( im hoping to get a pair this summer for mine... really looking foward to your pics of them...

Captain Kirk 04-20-2017 06:49 PM

Rcvd today...fiberglass not ABS...many ?s bout glass

Just got my flares from Jungle...from Thailand for my 98 Blazer 4dr today. As CW stated; no hardware; no instructions; trim pieces that fall off and the biggest thing for me is that I expected them to be made of ABS and they are from fiberglass. They seem rather flimsy...got out my HF digital caliper and they measured 1.1 mm thick. When I run my hand across the top of one of the front wheel flares its like gently rolling hills; up and down; nothing drastic but not flat and smooth if you catch my meaning. If anyone is good with or knowledgeable about fiberglass please reply or pm me...can I or should i try to reinforce...how well will they handle the winters here in NE? Is fiberglass better or worse than ABS? I have no knowledge base when it comes to glass.

Anyone got any updates on these?

Is there any kind of mounting tabs on the back of the flares? I haven't seen any good pictures of them.

CWBDDSPC 05-08-2017 09:22 PM

There are not. I can take some pictures tomorrow.

DonL 05-09-2017 12:14 PM

Thought they would've been better quality

CWBDDSPC 05-09-2017 12:43 PM

That was kind of my hope too ...

Private_Ops 05-09-2017 11:58 PM

Wow... you weren't kidding.

Unless you glassed some mounts on there there's literally no way to put them on.

LoneWolf71 05-13-2017 12:16 AM

I would be screaming for a refund! Thanks for the heads up! Sorry to see you having to deal with this though. :(

It's not THAT big of a deal... am I disappointed? Yes. Will I still put them on? Yes. I just haven't been in a blazer mood lately. Soccer, fishing, and the lawns are higher up on the to do list right now ;)

420Blazin4X4 07-06-2017 05:16 PM

Anyone do anything with these flares yet?

lol...I got mine primered and painted. The rears - the part that goes over/on the wheel wells aren't going to be that bad...I'm going to use nutserts/rivnuts to mount them. The part that goes on the rear doors I haven't figured out/decided how i'm going to mount them. The front left one wont be to bad but the right one isn't shaped the same as far as the separation between the top and bottom (think of a "V" on its side) and its gonna take quite a bit of pressure to make it spread open. So I'm a bit concerned about it cracking or breaking when I fasten it. Definately more than a one man job for that one. Knock on wood; Hopefully get em done this weekend. I was excited when I ordered these; and then when they arrived and I got a chance to look em over and realized that it was gonna be a bitch to install I lost that excitement. But the only other alternative is more than twice the price of these.

philipfreire 07-07-2017 08:30 AM

Wow, I just placed an order for bushwhacker fenders flares. I was kind of excited about these but the reviews so far are kind of disappointing.

Have you thought about using 3M acrylic double sided tape? They are meant for fender/body extensions and should be able to hold the flares in place.

You could also use a permanent 3M VHB tape which is stronger than using rivets. They is permanent. You will never be able to get it off.

This could be a different solution so you guys don't have to drill and have rust form in the future.

Captain Kirk 07-07-2017 09:18 PM

Curious...how much were the Bushwacker flares? Is yours a 4 door? I have some of the 3M tape and I have considered using it; I wasnt aware of the VHB tape...I'll have to check into that one. Thnx for that info.

I have a 2DR Blazer. The flares are around 650 CDN. Pricey.

You can't just use any 3M tape. Different types of adhesives bond differently with materials and handle climate differently. Try looking for 3M acrylic plus. VHB will permanently bond it. Which IMO is scarey. I hate not being able to remove it without destroying the flares.

CWBDDSPC 07-08-2017 03:19 PM

The problem with the Jungle Flare product is that there is nowhere on back of the flares to attach the double sided tape to. Look again at the pictures I posted earlier. It would be just as easy to use some gorilla tape to tape the back of them onto the vehicle. One of these days I will revisit the project - maybe ;)

What about the bottom of the flare? Does that not make contact with the bottom of the fender? Like where your drill to screw/rivet it in place?

DonL 08-24-2017 11:38 AM

Has anyone got around to doing an install on these yet? I've gotten to the point where I am debating on doing a zr2 conversion to 4 door. I've read a couple of convos on here showing how to do them... Just can't decide if I want to put the blood and sweat into it... I do enough for the blazer so if I can buy it the way I want I might go that way...

CWBDDSPC 09-07-2017 11:38 AM

Still haven't messed with mine yet

Captain Kirk 11-07-2017 07:57 AM

I do. I've had them for about 5 years and they've held up well. They look okay but they don't look nearly as nice as actual Blazer fender flares like what Jungle Makes. Especially if your tires are stock sized with the stock track width. The Pacer flares are really just a way to make vehicles with wide offset tires legal to drive in states that require the vehicle's fender to cover the tire.

Having said that, I have the 1 3/4" option and unless your track width is wider than stock, I say stick with those. I've seen the 2 1/2" option and they really stick far out of the fender. They were on a lifted Ford Ranger with gigantic mud tires that were sticking outside of the fender by about 4" so they actually looked pretty good on it but they would look silly on a stock blazer.

Also, the wire isn't needed. It's pretty tough to stick into the flare and by pretty tough, I mean I got like 4" in and gave up. And whenever you get it installed, the flares are plenty stiff enough by themselves. Just use all of the screws that come with it.

Here's some pics to check out.

I was looking at the rolled flares about 2 months ago. But here In Canada the one you both posted are over 120$... there are some that are 60$ Canadian but not sure if they are worth it... they don't seem to be as sturdy as the one a you guys posted

Just do like I have done to help people. Have your friend in the US order it for you and ship it up there. You end up paying less that way.

Captain Kirk 11-08-2017 04:23 PM

Harry thank you so much for the info and pictures, seeing them installed on one of our trucks it's really a lot of help man I truly appreciate it. Don, if you need somebody to help you out and get them things for you just let me know. On vacation from work till the 15th, guess i am gonna go ahead and see if I can get the jungles installed. I don't know though, I'm telling you I think I'm going to have problems, I don't know if I'm going to like them and if I don't who knows, them other ones might be an option; I'll let you guys know in a day or two. We had wnow on halloween, a dusting this morn, gonna bring em in the house so they can warm up an loosen up a bit, rite now the fiberglass is so tight; almost brittle. I picked up some sms with rubber backed washers from fastenall 2day and some 3m tape from a bud who wrenches and does body work at a local shop that he "donated" to me. They are already primered and the edging glued on. I know the fronts are gonna be a bitch; the rears (over tire pieces) shouldnt be to bad, and i still havent quite figured out what i'm gonna do about the pieces that go on the rear doors. FUN FUN FUN! It is supposed to be 50 degrees tmrw ( my bday also) only warm day in the forecast.

DonL 11-08-2017 04:30 PM

Awesome thanks Kirk. Now I just gotta talk the wife into it. She might not let me spend money until after our Florida trip tho lol

Captain Kirk 11-08-2017 04:58 PM

Don, i have Prime account; wonder if i can order them, and have them shipped to you as a gift.? I will check into that, who knows.

DonL 11-09-2017 07:50 PM

That would be awesome. Unfortunately I have cut my blazer fund until after after the new year... happy wife happy life and with 4 kids it doesn't help the pockets. But the smiles are worth it.

Isn't it amazing how true that statement is....life lesson #1 for all the young guys out there...lol.

Mother nature has not been nice here...its 22 and with windchill its below 10...no way to get anything done on truck in this weather. So close to being done and once again in a holding pattern. I go back to work on the 15th...hoping for just 1 day above 50 to get done what i have to to get her legal to drive.

CraigSnedeker 12-13-2017 11:35 AM
