Default 96 2door busted tailgate glass question

First off, if i posted this in the wrong place I am sorry, i wasnt 100% sure where this would fit best other than paint and body, secondly I have been a long time lurker and found that all the tutorials and advice a huge help when i was changing out my CFI spider injector and failed heater core, so thanks for that.

I have a 96 2 door, and some ******* decided to bust the back glass out, lucky for me nothing was stolen. After calling around and talking to the autoglass shops in the okc area, i was hit with either we cannot get that, or we can it will take 2 weeks and its going to cost you 875 for the glass plus install.

We have a pull a part place here, and i found a 2000 2 door with the tailgate glass intact, it looks identical; but i know looks can be deceiving. Does anyone know if this will work? 45 dollars vs 875 is a huge savings, but at the same time dont want to waste time and money pulling this off if its not going to work.

Thanks again for all the help!

my only concern is the 2 door vs the 4 door glass. other than that I'd take a shot at the $45 dollar roll of the dice. if it works then you saved $800 my friend. maybe ask if you could take it off and compare it with your truck in the parking lot with a worker to observe so you're not messing with the pull apart people?

fortunately they are both a 2 door, the only difference is year 1996 vs 2000; i think i will give it a shot, as the website you listed shows that glass for 600 with out install

YIKES! guess that's why they ask for your zip code. I live in north NJ so I guess it goes by the population and area. good luck.

Good news! I was able to he-man that back glass out of the 2000 2 door and it's an exact fit! The autoglass place here in okc charge me 60 to install it and the pull a part place charged me 40 for the glass, that is a hell of a lot cheaper than 600! So anyone in the future remember that 96 to at least 2000 models use the same rear glass. I will post pics when it's all done, plus how I removed the glass. Thanks for the help blazer47!
