Cutting the body??

Cutting the body??
Soooooo I've had a brilliant idea for when I get a car and turn my Blazer into my project vehicle.
BUTTTTTT... My idea involves cutting off the back section of the truck... the top half of the rear side windows and the top half of the hatch.
Noww.... I know I can't just cut that off and drive it safely...
SO my question is, where would I need reinforcement for the body/frame??? And I don't want it to be visible or anything...
IF this is possible... how would I do that... reinforce the body, if I have to?

That's EXACTLY what I wanna do with mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now in the one picture in the first link, there is a black liner after they cut up the truck... Is that the reinforcement of the body or did he just put that in for a leveled surface on the bed????

I'd like to do this to my truck someday I think that looks really cool. I don't think you would have to do any reinforcing as long as you just take out from the window back

i am guessing just to level bed, dont see how that would reinf. anything.
i have seen some roll over pics of blazers and to be honest i dont think there is much support anyway. i was considering a roll bar just in case/looks
The collision between a Dodge Neon and Chevrolet Blazer caused the Blazer to flip over on to its top. The three males in the SUV were treated for minor injuries as well

There's not a lot of reinforcement in the first place.
Also, check out oober's build thread. He's cut the back off and has a full cage around the engine and interior. It's the most incredible Blazer I've ever seen: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=649518

I cut mine off years ago. Haven't messed with the body shape or anything. I just made a pick up truck style roll bar

Never was a fan of the smaller Blazers, but that's pretty cool. Sure looks like those people did it right! Good luck on yours!

That's pretty damn ****!!! I just don't want a cage or bar or anything visible. I want to make it look like an avalance.
If Possible I want to have the window like they do too in the back that you can take off... but that will be after i do the work to the body.
Can anyone give me some advice on the back part then? Like, where the new window would be going? What would I fill that spot in with? What would I use for a midsection behind the back seats????
