Deteriorating plastic trim...How to fix?

Default Deteriorating plastic trim...How to fix?
The black trim around the back two glasses on both sides of my 2001 blazer are getting crusty looking. Can this trim be sanded and filled, primed and painted?

mine was all faded and rough so i taped everything off, sanded it really good, and used bumper paint. I picked gloss over matte and it turned out really good and made a big difference. i can post pics tmmrr

I'd love to see some pictures if it's not too much trouble.
