plastic coating over chrome trim?
I've been wanting to blackout the chrome trim on my Blazer, using the spray on bedliner technique, but theres one small issue, and I need advice on how to overcome it.
There seems to be a plastic covering over the chrome, and in this one spot, it has split, and peeled away leaving a nasty hole.
I'm not worried about the chrome, but I still want it blacked out, and looking decent, if I spray over this area it'll look like crap. any suggestions?
Thanks!

Cut the clear plastic cover off all of it with a razor knife and try that krylon paint made for plastic. I have a 97 and 95% of it peeled off by itself. The foil underneath will come off easily too .

mine wasn't that bad but i sanded it down with 320 and primed it then painted them. and they still look as good today as the day i did them...

Ok, I bit the bullet, and began ripping the plastic cover off the chrome. For the most part, the chrome does come off easily as well. Once I get it it all off, and cleaned up, i'll shot it with some rattlecan black. It oughta look sharp afterwards.
While I was peeling that clear layer off, I got to wondering about removing all the moulding completely. It made me wonder if the moulding is glued on, or otherwise mounted. I'd hate to pull it off and find there are 2 dozen holes left in the middle of my otherwise nice doors. I also considered if it'd be too plain looking then or not. Anyone got any thoughts?
Thanks!
