different kind of door pin problem
Hi I am kinda new to the forum. I have searched and can't find anyone else with this problem. I have done door pins twice now on my 02 2 door ls, the first pin set I got from Napa and the bushings went in tight with no problems and worked out for about 4 or 5 months but then the bushings started to seize to the pin and spin in the bracket and start to split. I took them out and got another set from Napa and they refunded my money for the first set. installed the second set, they went in tight and made it a weekly regiment to oil the pins. And again they are seized to the pins and started to split. has anyone else had this problem? Is there something I am doing wrong? Is the gm set any better?
Thanks,
Garrett

I used anti-seize on the pins before I installed them.

Are you having to drive either of the pins in?

yea the bottom pin takes a little more effort to pound in the the top one.

Then the door is operating under a bind.

Good points petty & I'd still use a good nickle anti-seize on the pins. Oil will not protect it the same & will displace, anti-seize will stay there a lot longer & lubricate. Though if they're bronze bushings they'll naturally lubricate... but I'd still add it lol.
Nice quotable quote btw in the sig today:

D'oh! Stupid of me to assume one side was bolted and writing without looking.
Well, Gclaypool... the chance are good that at some time your truck was hit and the 4 hinge pin holes are out of line.
As to lubing, the hinge pin bushings if they are quality should be bronze oil-bearing type. Before I trusted anti-seize I would think moly grease
