first gen spare tire carrier questions
how many different types of them are there. I went to PAP today, and thinking they were all the same, I picked up this one
the picture on the left is the carrier...you can barely see that there are 3 linear holes that hold it onto the body....
the pic in the middle is one of my truck, and shows that there are 4 holes in a square-ish pattern. the bracket i need is about 2 inches shorter......
The pic on the right is of the rear of my truck, and shows the holes on the tailgate to the left of the hatch latch
The one I bought today had a bracket that bolts onto the tailgate just to the right of the hatch latch.
Was mine an aftermarket?????? Were there more then one type available???

So why would you want that ugly thing on a 2wd? I HATED mine on my 92 2wd 4 door. I pulled it off. It's probably still in the attic in the garage of my old house. Mine had one hole on the back and two on the side all in a line. Not up and down like the holes you have. Did yours come with the outside spare from the factory? I wondered if someone put a different model one on there.
