"Luxury" interiors?

Has anyone done their interior in a more luxurious way? If so post up some pics! This is one of the things I want to do for the Jimmy when funds start rolling into to fix her up. I plan on keeping my truck for awhile so the amount of money going in doesn't matter as much as what I want.

ABN31B 01-13-2011 12:26 AM

Use search for the tahoe seat mods and such...
Changing the seating changes the vehicle a LOT. You can also use similar sized seats on your current rails (think H3 buckets?) with little or no modification.

luxury = Envoy and Trail Blazer trim for the Blazer/Jimmy BEFORE those trims were stand alone vehicles (2002+)
Look for kiwiblazer's Trailblazer interior upgrade (others did this as well)

swap back seat for buckets and mount custome box in the center area...

re-wrap everything in suede :icon_shrug:
the sky (read as $$$) is the limit.

cochran07 01-13-2011 12:42 AM

Look at you go ABN! Just posting on all my posts! Haha

Anyways yeah I know of the 10 million things you can do I just thought id try and get a centralized thread for others to see as well. I actually find my stock seats really comfortable. Id just like to get the pleather redone with a real leather/ suede combo or atleast 100% leather and add butt warmers. Like I said in another post I want the interior to be comfortable. Kinda like some of these luxury trucks running around nowadays that I don't have upwards of 50k to spend on one.

ABN31B 01-13-2011 07:58 PM

oh... I gotcha...
well I'll see if i can dig some things up.

cochran07 01-13-2011 08:42 PM

Well maybe some of these other guys will chime in with what they've got!

Debonair 01-13-2011 08:58 PM

not what i have but what i plan on doing when i get one is to lay down some sound deadener (second skin) and maybe take a note from what these guys said about seats.

also i'd put in a newer dash from a pickup or a trailblazer or something, idk i'd have to look around first. and also i plan on doing something to the doorpanels to update them.

this would be on a K5 btw.

so grab some seats from a '98+ LT truck. it'll have the leather you're looking for, but also have the factory "heat" option you're looking for.

if you hit a '99+ truck (might be '00+ ?) you'll find they have the "memory position" option as well.

personally, i'd stay far away from the suede-especially on a DD-it's a bitch to keep "clean".

cochran07 01-13-2011 09:49 PM

Sounds like a good plan. I think I want to keep mine mostly stock looking. Just want to do things to make it seem a little nicer.

Debonair 01-13-2011 09:50 PM

thats what i usually try to do, small or subtle things that look like it could have came from the factory like that. (for the most part)

cochran07 01-13-2011 11:47 PM

The main thing I want to add is heated/massage seats with a real leather rewrap of the stock seats.

BLOND1WD 01-14-2011 11:36 AM

So for you guys with the cold butts, here's a lil' bit of info. Dorman makes a universal seat heater. If you go to Dorman Products.com, shows you how to install, wire, etc. to basically any vehicle. Definitely an option if you don't treally want to do a seat swap.

cochran07 01-14-2011 12:35 PM

Old skool lover... call me crazy but I've owned a 98 and the seats just arnt as comfortable to me as my 95s. I doubt id do suede just for the simple face that stuff is expensive. And I want my interior to look as "correct" if you will for a 95.

you do know the stocks ones come with leather on the face of them, right? even the Caddy's are the same way.

ok...........you're crazy! :icon_razz:

maybe your '98 was just wornout/trashed? :icon_shrug:

i've never driven in a '95 before, but i did sit in a '97 Jimmy for awhile (while i was stripping it) and those things killed my ass/back.

the longest trip i've gone on was a little over 4 hours, one way (480km/300 miles) and i never had any issues with sitting in them that long. except for the fact that the leather makes my ass as hot as hell, but that's just me. i wear t-shirts & a bush shirt for the Winter. :icon_shrug:

cochran07 01-14-2011 08:03 PM

Yeah I know cheap GM! And no I bought my 98 off two old people that took great care of it. I just find my 95 more comfy for whatever reason and I've drove it about 300 miles as well.

warthogdriver 01-14-2011 08:27 PM

how i upgraded
pulled from 2001 (i think ) trailblazer (s10 version)
http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/a...0221101631.jpg

two tone charcoal leather full power memory on driver seat
no heat though.

cochran07 01-14-2011 09:26 PM

Looks good man.

nineTnine 01-14-2011 09:34 PM

My '99 has heated front buckets, driver's seat has the memory option. I find them very comfy, but on long trips my wallet starts to dig in for some reason. I like the pattern but the driver's side has seen better days

Debonair 01-14-2011 10:15 PM

they actually made seats with memory foam?

cochran07 01-14-2011 10:40 PM

No their refering to memory settings for the power seats. Where you can program it to like 2 people and you just push a button and it goes to your specific setting if it was changed.

Debonair 01-15-2011 09:55 AM

ohh okay sweet. i can see how that can be useful.

theonetruetom 01-27-2011 11:47 AM

I threw some '00 2dr seats in my '89. they're comfortable as hell, not power but eh, who cares? by next winter i'm planning ass warmers. And after I get back from my roadtrip in May I'm gonna toss in the rear 60/40 seat out of another 2dr so my cargo space is a little more configurable. Might see about the wheel arch covers too, those plastic cargo bins are better than the zippered ones my truck came with.

I also pulled some trailblazer seats, not much more else I've done with the interior other than my system...

abig84 01-27-2011 07:11 PM

i dont know if this really counts. but i put a set of power, heated, memory, 8 position leather seats out of a 2009 volvo into my 86 k30. also a sweet padded steering wheel i think came out of a cavalier, gave me a bit more room

never would see that one coming....looks great.

benedict, man those seats really look great against that black int.

cochran07 01-28-2011 07:28 PM

@ Benedict, those TB seats look good.

@ abig84, didn't see that coming either! But it does look good.

abig84 01-28-2011 08:51 PM

thanks. i got them free from a body shop next to my work. . someone put some crappy cloth buckets in it when i got it so definitely a improvement

azblazer96 01-28-2011 09:41 PM

Nice seats Benedict, would love to have those in my 96.

cochran07 02-01-2011 02:50 AM

Yeah those TB seats are hard to get ahold of

UberFail 02-01-2011 03:29 AM

i'm considering checking the local JY for a set of those seats - my leather seat has a nice hole in the bottom pad @ the hinge point anyways so its time to replace them

Benedict, did you have to modify the harness in any manner? if so can you PM me what you did plz?

cochran07 02-01-2011 04:03 AM

I'm curious if anyones used one of those wood dash kits too.

man if you want a Merc, go buy a Merc. Or a Bentley. Or a Maybach. FFS don't ruin your blazer.

cochran07 02-01-2011 09:55 AM

Hey I said I was curious.. not that I was putting one in my truck haha. I don't like woodgrain on Grey interiors so that leaves me out anyways since my interior is grey.

Benedict1337 02-01-2011 03:10 PM

I didn't have to modify my seats at all to make them work, they bolted right in and the harnesses plugged right in. Still wish they had seat warmers in them thou...

Longer02 02-01-2011 03:49 PM

Seat warmers are very nice :). I am not a fan of the tan leather seats/interior in my Blazer "Trailblazer", but maybe it will grow on me.

Benedict1337 02-01-2011 04:28 PM

wow your trailblazer seats are heated? I'm wondering how hard it would be to pull the elements out of some other blazer seats and put them in mine, there are 2 bravada's sitting at the junk yard with heated seats.. lol one of them is where I got my grill and lights the other is where I got my dash g80 and 3.73 gears

cochran07 02-01-2011 05:02 PM

My jimmy came with the 3.73s :) I've thought about finding 98+ Bravada seats tho. But it just seems my 95 seats are more comfy to me than the seats that was in my 98. But then again the 98 I had wasn't the SLT and didn't have the lumbars and all. Guess Ill just have to start poking around when I have the money to start upgrading

Yeah mine are heated. I thought it was pretty much the standard if you had leather the seats were heated. My parents old 99 LT Blazer were heated and so is the 99 LT my cousin just picked up.

that was my thought exactly.

the seats in my '98 LT are heated, and i sure as hell wouln't want to have leather that wasn't.

no matter how hot blooded i am, those seat can be frickin' frezzing @ -20* 'til they warm up.

i also am very surprised that you found some TB seats that don't have any heat in them. :icon_shrug:

as for the woodie interior mods.............kinda funny that i've found a '02 Jimmy @ my wreckers that has tha done to it. was gonna snap a pic to show how shat it is. maybe i will next time i'm back there.

cochran07 02-02-2011 12:02 AM

Man cold leather is cold leather and no matter where you are cold leather sucks
