Default Need advice on fixing driver door sticker plate problem.

Hello All,
First of all thank you in advance for your help suggestions.
I am trying to figure out the best way to fix the driver door sticker plate that is damaged. See photos. This is a 2001 Chevy blazer. I have no idea on how to fix this problem. This vehicle belongs to my daughter so I want to fix it securely. Any advice, tips, suggestions, links etc would be greatly appreciated. again THANK YOU.

Bryan

I've got the exact same issue. It's caused by sagging door hinges.

Not sure how bad yours are, you might be able to get away with replacing the hinge and bushings.

Mine are too shot for that, though. I had to drill a hole in the pin, and put a cotter key through it, or else it would fall right out while I was driving. The hinges are welded to the body. So, not a simple bolt on fix.

Fortunately, my dad has a welder, so I'm going to order a new hinge, and have him weld it on. I'll have him fix the striker plate, as well.

If you don't have access to a welder, the next best bet might be a body shop. Not sure how much they would charge, though.

If you cant get your hand on a welder, what about finding a piece long enough you can river above and below the hole, and then mount that door plate to it? Not sure... I've almost had that happen from the mechanism in the door falling back into place prematurely...

Check out the last page on tajohns's boring blazer build under the builds section... He just dealt with the same issue.
