99 LS 4 door, beige interior if it matters.

The plastic latch for the garage door opener space in the overhead console has broken off, so I have the door taped shut for now. What year models can I look for a part on? (covering many junkyards out here can take a lot of driving, so it's a lot cheaper if I can call ahead)

Also, does anybody happen to know if the "universal transmitter" option (three-button learning transmitter built in to the console) can just be popped into that space, or would I have to swap the whole overhead console? I've thought about adding a remote-controlled light outside the garage, so the multiple built-in transmitters would be useful.
