Paint for interior panels/dash???
I'm planning on painting the majority of my interior panels (basically anything plastic) and I was wondering if anybody has repainted their dash with a glossy type paint? I want something that sparkles/shines but I don't want to screw myself on a sunny day by basically creating a mirror under my front window... Has anybody done this? Does a gloss paint or clearcoat on the dash create a lot of glare?

Just an update for anyone that's planning on painting their interior: I went with Krylon's Fusion line (Satin Black) for plastic materials and it went on very smooth and even. It's been drying for around 24 hours now and it doesn't seem to shine too much, looks about as shiny as a brand new dash would. I'll post pic when it's all finished for anybody to peek at =).

What did you prep the dash with before painting? I found a much better product called SEM color coat. The trick is always cleaning the hell out of the plastic before you paint it. You always want to do that so you can get the waxes off the plastic that were used when your dash was molded. If it starts to flake, clean it up with a light scotch brite and soapy water, scrub it till it gets squeaky when you run a finger across it.

I used a de-waxer/de-greaser from Wal Mart, it worked pretty good. I usually use DX330 by PPG, that stuff will take the sticky off Christina Aguilera!

i havent painted the soft/top part of the dash yet but i did my door panels and alot of other parts ive seen alot of people try paint of pifferent sorts but you'll need an adhesion promoter but you will still have a problem with if anything hits it and chips the paint i used dye i bought from a body shop supply store it costs a little more then spray paint and it actually dyes the plastic not just covering it so it can take a beating i actually sank my entire driver side in a mud puddle in mississippi i cleaned off the doors and they still looked brand new and a year later im still washing mud out of my truck but either way you go make sure you use a scuff pad to knock the shine off of the plastics or you will cut down on the life of the color (the guys at the supply shop told me how to do it and told me landau black was a good color used it and it looked stock not too shiny but had a stock like shine to it nobody could tell i dyed them those guys know what their talking about)
