Plastics cheaper and easier to replace than metal

I'm fine with the head lights / grill area being plastic but I don't like the bumper being plastic cuz it will break easily if I hit something...

I would rather just give it a good yanking or beaten to straiten it out then to have to replace the entire bumper just cuz it has a chip out of it

I noticed the sides to my rear bumper are metal, but on other blazers they are plastic?

Regardless, the metal bumper I had didn't hold up to well when I reversed into that tree.
