Default Question on Seats in 2dr blazer

We recently purchased a 2 door, 94 Blazer for my daughter to use for college. I'm thinking the lever on the back of the seat is not working properly because the seat can be pulled forward freely to allow someone access to the back seat. I'm afraid this may be a safety issue if she is in an accident. Shouldn't the seats stay in a locked position normally unless you want access to the backseat by lifting the small lever. Btw, these are not power seats. Does anyone know if this part could be replaced or should I try to replace both seats. The handle on the side of the seat that allows you to recline works fine. Thanks to any one who is able to help!!!!!

I don't know how to replace the part for the lever or anything, but they should stay back in a locked position until the lever is pulled. Most dealerships carry the seat lever mechanism thing in stock here in Calgary cause they apparently go so often... heh even my insurance agent warned me about it
