Smile Rear hatch change out?????

I was wondering if anyone has changed from a split rear hatch to a one piece with the window & hatch both lift up?
I bought this 98 Blazer 4x4 I love the truck but hate the drop down tailgate.
My service dog hates it as well. Has anyone ever attempted to change from that to the one piece lift hatch. If so what is involved in doing it? Of course a one piece hatch but the latches etc. I would think if I had all the hardware hinges, latches, lift shocks, etc that it would be a direct bolt on? Or am I all wet about this.

I don't think a 1piece hatch was ever available on these trucks...I've been wrong before though.

I've looked into it, and its a pretty big job. You have to add a latch at the bottom, different mounting points, and the full liftgate covers the back side window trim. You'd be better off just finding one with a liftgate because of the time and money that it would take.

This has been asked a few times. As robertfireye stated, it isn't worth it to convert. There is way too much involved.

Only the later 2nd gens were available with the liftgate option.

My 97 has a liftgate but would much rather have the split gate for the tailgate I think thats cool.
