Repainting: To do or Not to do
So this is what I am working with: Last February I repainted my truck from MAACO (Presidents sale for $500) to orange from the stock gold. Now when i got that they wanted to charge $150 a piece for each of the door jams and under the hood, so I declined that. Now I have my bright orange blazer with gold paint in all the door jams and on everything that wasn't the direct exterior of the truck. Some chipping has occured in certain spots, but nothing to extreme.
Here is my ideas:
1. getting a full repaint job on the truck done, to a metallic black
2. do the bottom trim in bed liner (like a lot of other guys have done) and inside all the door jams as well with my orange paint
3. Do the Same as #2 but add two black racing stripes down the middle
Any other ideas? I am kind of at a cross roads because #2 or 3 will be the cheapest solution to my issue, but I am uneasy on doing anything yet.
Here are some pictures of how it sits now: (In the third picture you can see the original gold color in the door jam) (In the second picture you can see the chipping on the plastic front piece)

Maaco wasn't really that bad, the customer service was very good and I basically got what I payed for. Basically, would i go back? Not for the same type of work. The "Presidential" paint job that I got at the time, which is basically only paint with no clearcoat on it, was pretty bad. Right now i have a lot of chipping going on in multiple parts of my truck, clearly showing the original gold color that the truck was originally. I'm pretty sure they didn't sand the truck originally, just taped and painted it then moved on. So like i said, Would i go there again? Not for a presidential paint job. The paint came out good but isn't lasting too long as far as chipping is concerned.

I agree with half whit errr 50% genius & cherry... the black & orange theme looks good & strips like on warthogdrivers ride would pop. Bedliner properly applied will protect & add some good rugged looks to it as well. Looking at the interior I'd say same with painting the speaker covers in the doors orange. It'll add a lot to it & maybe the control panel covers below the already orange handle plates.
Just saw the console tray, that can get orange too. Best thing is most've this is not expencive (& given me ideas lol).
Lets face it, interiors are pretty drab, grey, black all one shade or close to eachother etc. Having a stand out contrast looks good!

i would say no matter what you should do your own prep work. Prep is the majority of a good paint job. I like the orange but i think the stripes would make it look like the halloween express. I have thought of repainting mine and doing a rhino lining type of job on the bottom below the waist trim. Sprayers are cheap enough that you could probably do your jambs on your own and then bring the truck in for the main spray.
Did you remove the trim and all plastics from the truck before they sprayed it last time?
