Default Repainting small parts

The tire rack and the towing hitch are both slightly rusting and paint is peeling so next weekend I plan on takeing them off, sanding, primeing and painting them but I have a few questions first.

How hard is it to take off the tire rack?
What tools will I need?
How hard is it to take off the towing hitch?
What tools will I need?
What kind paint will I need?
Will spray paint be good enough?

Here is some pics for you guys

Also, what can I do about the pitting on the plastic around the rear window?

the tire rack isnt hard to take off and youll just need a ratchet and some sockets/torx bits(i cant remeber the size of the bolts or if theyre torx bits or not). the hitch isnt hard to take off either i beleive only four bolts hold it on and if you get a quality spray paint like dupont it should hold up fine.

What would you do about the plastic window trim?

alot of guys just sand it down and repaint it, but if its pitted bad enough you may have to use some filler(bondo).
