So I've been looking at the toyota tj cruisers lately, and I really like the roof racks. Its roof has more of a curve then ours, but with "spacer blocks", or custom made brackets, do you think this would be doable? Itll only be offroad recovery in a storage bin, another tire, Jerry can, bumper jack, that would be up there so I'm not too worried for support, and I would add a couple of 3"×1" aluminum angles on the inner across the roof.
when ordered, it comes in pieces. So itll be easier to come up with custom brackets if need be.
any thoughts?
I've also been toying the idea of making my own out of materials at home depot, as I dont have a welder(trying to talk the wife into a little cheap one), I'm looking at other options. I do love this one off Amazon tho... about the same price as the FJ setup.
I would remove the headliner and hopefully keep the mounts concealed. I got a cheap one from Walmart for now, I think I'm going to try to get some pipe from rona and add a foot to the length of it. Got pics in my thread.
