Hello all. I had my eye on a 05 blazer with about 120000 km. I was wondering if there are certain areas that are prone to rusting out making the truck a parts truck if not found early. I took it to a autobody/ mechanic shop to look over the truck before I purchased. After getting the ok, I bought it and upon cleaning it up I was greeted with holes in passenger floor. I'm hoping that the frame itself is not comprimised and that these holes are all there is. Are there any frame or support sections to be aware of? I crawled around underneath and used a hammer to check the integrity of the frame. Rust Passenger side door sil # 1 Passenger side door sil # 2 Passenger side door sil # 3 Passenger side door sil # 4 Passenger side door sil # 5 front against firewall fell but no holes or soft spots discovered. Thank you to all that reply.
The whole frame and body are susceptible to rust, but pay special attention to the rear section of the frame (behind the rear axle), the spring shackles, and the body mounts. If the frame is solid, the shackles are an easy fix, but the other stuff? Not so much.
Thank you for your reply. I'm hoping I caught it early enough to stop it or at least slow it down. I will try to wire wheel the frame then prime and paint to stop the rot. Then I will Krown rust proof every where else.
