Custom Oil Pan Brackets + 3 Aluminum Skids Install
Hey guys, I read up on this thread while I was installing the skid plates and it really helped me out so I thought I would add what I can. I ended up making my own oil pan brackets because finding them these days is nearly impossible. I made the brackets out of 2.5x2.5in angle iron 3/16in thick and shaped them from there. Then tapped the hole so I could bolt the skid plate up. The oil filter skid and the transfer case skid directly bolted up. Pictures attached
Looking for 2005 4WD Blazer Front Center Skid Plate
HELP!!! I'm trying to find a replacement front center skid plate for a 2005 4WD (T-10) Blazer (Jimmy, Bravada, or compatible 4WD S-10 style Pickup, etc...), and YES I DID say 2005. Believe it or not, Chevy DID make S-10/T-10 Blazers up until the end of the available parts run from 2004 vehicles, and sold them as 2005 models. .
We recently hit an animal out on the highway with our 05 4WD Blazer, and it went underneath the vehicle and destroyed the black plastic skid plate that covered the area beneath the radiator, the fan blade shroud, belts/hoses, etc... and extends back to the engine support cross-member. It also has the trap-door for access to the oil filter built into the skid plate, as well.
This is supposed to be covered under our automotive insurance policy, but the purchase will have to be made thru the repair/body shop for the insurance company to reimburse for the expense.
We are located in Longview (Northeast) TX, and can't seem to find any 4WD Blazers at the local auto salvage yards, that would have the skid plate.
I don't care if the replacement is new or used, or whether it's made of the OEM hard black plastic, aluminum, steel, carbon fiber, etc... I just need something to protect the under-belly from debris. Not planning to do any hard off-roading with the family vehicle.

Any ideas?

I'd do a web search for wrecking yards. The skid plates might not be searchable in there search engines so you might have to resort to searching by vehicle.
I've used a you-pull yard that lists vehicles by make, model, and vin. With the vin you can sometimes determine the type of vehicle and infer what parts it would have. I did this to find a Blazer with a correct color rear carpet.
I checked my go-to regular yard (in Spokane WA) that I think ships parts and I would expect to have a good number of second gen Blazers but their new search engine sucks. I'd give them a call. This is their website: https://spaldings.com/
Are the skid plates original equipment on 2nd gen Blazers?
Yes, they were an option. At least by 99, they were no longer aluminum and instead what looks to be a carbon-fiber material. The switch was done after the introduction of the larger, 4-button transfer case so that the aluminum ones under the transfer do not fit without modification.
