Angry So I think my frame is bent...FIXED!

Not sure where to put this, so here goes.

Back at the end of January, I was involved in a minor wreck. A lady rear ended me while I was sitting at a red light. She couldn't have been going more than 5mph. I had the adjuster come out and do the estimate and cut me a check. The damage looked minimal. All he thought I needed was a new rear bumper.

Well, sometime last year, I painted all of the visible parts of my frame black. I was sick of the funky brownish color. Yesterday I was doing a walk around after washing the Blazer and noticed some of the paint flaking off of the frame on the DS, about 10-12" behind the rear axle. I looked a little harder, and noticed that the paint is also spiderwebbing and the metal is bowed out. I checked the PS for reference and the same area is nice and flat. The "initial" damage hasn't been fixed, yet. I'm going to take it by the local Chevy dealership and have them take a look. If it's bent, I get to call the adjuster that came out the first time and have him reassess the damages. This blows!

You can also have a body shop look at the truck and they can tell you if the frame is bent as well. Hopefully you don't have a bent frame.

The verdict is in. The frame is bent. I took it to the dealership. Apparently, where it bent is/was a common thing when Blazers get rearended. $450 and they'll fix it. Looks like it's time to call the adjuster and see what to do.

Called the ins company. They approved the rapairs, still covered by the lady's ins. I dropped it off Thursday afternoon. They called Friday asking about the bumper, b/c they would need a straight one to make sure everything lined up properly after the repair, so I dropped of my replacement around noon.

Went and picked it up today. They fixed the frame, mounted the other bumper, which is still light brown b/c it hasn't been painted yet, and repainted the area of the frame that was repaired. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the entire experience and would recommend Red River Chevrolet in Bossier City(Time Magazine's Dealer of the Year) to anyone.
