Default Tail-light guards.

I have just recieved (for free) a set of black tail-light guards for my 96' Blazer. The unfortunate thing is that the paint is chipping off pretty bad and its a little rusty underneath the paint. Does anbody have an idea on how I would be able to paint these with the paint actaully looking decent?

Thanks-

Yuu would have to sand blast it and then re-powder coat it. If you can find a small company in your area that does this you can probably have it done for less then $75 but then again, you could just go buy new ones for this price. I would just take the thing to a wire brush grinder and then just buy some glosy black spray paint and spray them. You wouldnt know the difference until you get up close. Either way it will look good.

may also benefit with a clear coat, to keep it from chipping

I was also going to recommend using Tremclad paint after you brush it.

You can always use a good aircraft aluminum stripper to remove the old finish and then any of the good paints listed above. Personally, I'd hit them with some spray on truck bed liner paint. That stuff is tough as nails.
