tow hitch

Default tow hitch

does anyone know if the tow hitch in the rear bumper of the newer blazers is sturdy?all it really is is a place to screw the ball into......i want to know if it is a good place to attach a tow hook...any advice?

Check the owners manual or the dealer to find out the rating on the bumper. It may not hold as much as you need to use the hook for. It should not be a problem to mount a hook there but I would look into a reciever adapter that mounts to that location then you could remove the hook until you really need it....

Search sites like hitchsource.com and others to find the part. I recently purchased a frame mount reciever hitch from them instead of trusting the bumper.

I checked on truckperformance.com and Putnam MFG. makes a step bumper box for approx. $40 that would fit this description rated at 5,000lb but your bumper must be rated to take advantage of the full 5K, they also make lesser rated hitches too...
