Default Under the rear wiper

Under the rear wiper on my blazer is a clear strip decal. Is itsomething aprevious ownerput on or is it factory? Was it supposed to have been taken off or is it a permanent protector? I want to take it off but I didn't know if the wiper would somehow damage the paint. Anyone taken it off?

Yes this is a paint protector Installed by the factory, It was actually a recal on the 1995 and some 1996 blazers, we had to install them after some of them had paint problems from the wiper contacting it.

So can it come off w/o the wiper damaging the paint?

Look at the decal does it have scratches on it? How often do you use that wiper.

I use the wiper every time it rains, which around here thats about once a week. Just checked the strip, it doesn't appear to be scratched, but you really can't tell whether it has any hairline scratches in it because it is supposedly 'scratch resistent'. The only reason I really want it off is b/cit gets so hot in the summer and the corners of the sticker pull away.

thanx

Maybe see about getting it replaced, or re-glued with some high-temp adhesive...

it protects big time against all sorts of debri getting inbetween the wiper and the paint when the wiper goes back into the holder it presses against the body i live in the desert and so when i use it the few times a year when it rains im glad its there cause then the wiper doesn't scratch the paint when i stop using it
