no thats the acual bumper, you need the stripping, if it was me id say screw it and do a front end conversion to the new headlights, grill and bumper so you dont have to worry about that stupid strip
The 98+ upgrade is an option. However, not all 95-97s came with the impact strip. Mine didn't. Other solutions could be 1) just buy a new bumper piece that came without the strip, or 2) fill in and repaint the existing one.

It came with it. you can tell theres a piece missing. Previous owner had a fender bender i guess, new bumper never bought the impact striping....

That's exactly what it is--impact strip. I was thinking about replacing the faded one on my bumper too, but instead, what I am planning on doing is buying a brand new chrome bumper on LMC truck that doesn't require that strip. I am going to top it off with the chrome grille. The chrome bumper is $150. If you don't prefer that, I believe I have also seen the same exact strip on ebay for like $40 or $50 plus shipping.

i actually just replaced that on my 95 i ordered it from keystone threw my work and i think it was something like 35 bucks for a factory replacement

How would i do that? What year of parts would i need for it?
