My wife was in a round about, don't forget we are overseas military in the UK, and got pushed off the road. The driver took off and she was too shook up to tell what kind of car it was. I'll post pics of damamge. The truck is a 97 4 door LS. We've had nothing but great times with the truck but it seems to be a maganet for accidents when we are either parked in a parking lot or when she's driving.
So far I can tell that the impact was the passenger side rear wheel area. The body is cracked from the opening to the rear by the bumper. Now is it worth to claim on the insurance and have the rates go up? How fair is it when someone hits us and we have to pay more? I'm frustrated with the poor drivers here. My wife isn't aggressive at all so I know she wasn't drifting or racing. Wasn't icey or rainy at all.

Get an estimate first, if it's cheap, or close to your deductible, then just pay for it, if it's rediculously expensive, then go through insurance.

It will be expensive I bet. The dollar to the pound is 2 to 1 right now so a 500 pound bill would be $1000.

That is the bad thing about RED it attacks attention and is 75% more likely to be involved in accidents.
Looks like just the rear bumper end cap and the running board got damaged. Lucky for her. Could had been worse.
I would hit the junk yard for the end cap (might even get lucky and find a perfict color match), easy to change out. The running board / lower body panel can be straightened out. Just got knocked down a little.
