got the lower pin in everything rolls nice.

i watched a1auto.com where the guy compressed the spring and put s 3 ties around the spring and tightens them up.
so far i did that about 7 times and broke about 21 ties.

when i take pressure off the spring usually 1 or 2 ties tear.

i will continue to try the ties until maybe i can get the spring in that area of the door.

i am short about 1/4 inch. it looks nice and easy on the video.

everytime i hear the ties tearing i get frustrated.

maybe tomorrow i can get the spring to stay more compressed so i can slide her in where she belongs.

thanks again.......................

well i went to Ace and got ties that have 175 lbs pressure. the standard ties that i got from Home Depot were only 75 lbs.

the ties held real well and i slipped the spring in the door and cut the tires with the wifes scrapbboking blade.

thats to everyone for your input....

So what was the problem with the bushings before and what did you do to fix it?

kenny, your thread gave me a headache. I should've known when even the subject looked to make no sense.

You stated the bushing wouldn't fit in the lower hinge, and now all of a sudden they do? I'm asking for the benefit of the members on here as to what you did to fit the bushings into the lower hinge.

Did you weld on a new hinge?

Get the correct bushings?

Grind down the bushings?

Drill out the hinge?

It is always nice to let others know that once you have solved a problem, exactly what you did to solve the problem.

the stealership gave me a lower bushing without the grooves in it. i put the lower pin in downward with out any bushing at the head of the pin. the bottom of the pin the bushing they gave me fit in the hole. i then put on the snap ring and everything is ok. door closes smoothly and no more wind noise.

If I remember correctly I had this same exact problem with a Chevy Astro.. the Bushings were just wrong.. had to finally bring all the old and new stuff to the dealer and plead ignorance.. when the parts are wrong.. things just wont work.. far too many parts houses simply cannot do anything but regurgitate whats on their screen..
