Question Window trim: easy fixes?

The plastic window trim on my 98 2dr is fading and looks like Swiss cheese (spongy).

When I bought the truck it looked like this. Some jerk yelled at me for taking her to a show in that condition [among other ridiculous claims for a town festival and a college students car :'( ].

Is there any easy and cheap fix for this. I know these parts cannot be separated from the window, yet I cannot afford to replace 4 windows just for trim issues.

There is a very good thread out there detailing the process on repainting the trim.

Someone on this forum used roll on bedliner, and it looked awesome! I used this product called Forever Black, it did an okay job for like $15. But the bedliner looks so much better.
