Default Air Filter Feedback

I am considering replacing the airbox and crappy filter that I have on my '01 Blazer with a K&N Cone Filter (RF-1035). Any thoughts on using this filter/setup.

If it were me I would get a nice drop in filter and do the airbox mod rather then put a cone in place of the stock box cause you will suck in hot air that way. You could make a heat shield for the cone filter line the k&n fipk uses

It is cutting the front portion of the lower airbox out turning it from a airbox to a heat shied I will see if I can find a pic. If I cant I will take a pic of mine

That'll help a bit, but unless it's sealed against the underside of the hood & has a fresh inlet airflow from the outside it'll still be drawing warm air from the engine compartment. K&N is good, cleanable, flows a bit better & with a CAI you get that throttle body sound that is a really nice bonus.

I've heard reasonably good remarks about throttle body spacers on these motors. What is a good one to go with?

I can't really say if these air box mods help or not because I haven't tried it. I just left my air box in stock condition and changed to a K&N flat filter. I also seafoamed my intake. After doing those things I went from 17mpg to 19.7mpg on the hiway. I think that both things contributed but not sure which one did more good. Almost wish I would have done one at a time so I could know.

I drive in plenty of big puddles, so am really afraid to open up the air box too much.

Anybody have any before and after data on these air box mods?
