Default Cam shaft question

Just had a quick question.... What degree of "duration" would i be looking at if i was choosing a new camshaft for my 96, it's not really highway oriented, just a city driver.

Default RE: Cam shaft question

What are you looking to gain? What "side effects" can you deal with? There are often trade-offs when choosing a higher duration cam. You can read about the manners of a cam on pretty much any of the manufacturers websites.

When I was researching a cam swap for my old 2000 Bravada, I found that Comp Cams and Crane both had pretty good descriptions. Those are just two companies that I have dealt with in the past. Comp Cams has an excellent tech line with very knowledgeable people.

Not many people here have done a cam swap in their vehicles...

Im workin on a cam for my 4.3 when all the machine work is done. was thinking about going with an off the shelf cam from Comp but you can call them and they will make whatever you want. can tell them what you have and what you want and they will find a compromise. WE NEED MORE CAM INSTALLS![8D]

Default Bringing it back.

I'm getting ready to rebuild my 4.3 out of my 98 Blazer. What all needs to be done after I put in the new cam? Will it just run out of the box like that? I really don't know. Advance Auto Parts has a "towing" cam for it for $140. Claims 45 hp and 55 torques. I just don't know what all else I'd be getting myself into. any help?

Thanks,
Mike
