Default performance advice

recently picked up an 89 5.7, it's lifted 6" with 37" shoes, has magnaflow exhaust with 40 tips hooked up to stock manifold. i have gone through the engine down to the block (found crack head and replaced with freshened up older Vortec heads) new distributor TBI spacer, radiator, alternator, battery, ran compression and is good. runs good, but recent building i don't want to hammer on it. i would like to make some legimate HP gains. would a distributor with curve kit help? or any other ideas to have the option of spinning the big ol' tires

The distributor is electronically controlled for the most part. I do not know if a curve kit would really change anything. A good ECU tune would help though. Check out thirdgen.org for TBI tuning tips including some DIY stuff.

Thanks! that is something i overlooked, but is very important. any idea how to qualify someone to do ECU tuning, without having a source already in place?
What kind of general expense would ECU tuning cost? good tip on thirdgen.org. appreciate it.
