Default Pogramming worth it??

All right I was thinking about getting my PCM reprogramed to free up some ponnies help economy rid torque management and improve shift points. My question is "Is it worth it?" I emailed Bryan Herter From pcmforless, the guy programed my dads full size after he changed to 4.11 gears and my bros silvy when he did the performance 93 octain tune so I know hes good but what do you guys think. I know some of you guys reccomeng pcmforless so maybe you have expirence on your tunned 4.3.
(His E-mail)
yes, I have tuning for the 4.3 trucks. I can pick up 10-12HP on 87 octane,
and over 20 on premium. I can get rid of the top speed limiter, firm up the
shifts, improve the shift points, get rid of the torque management, and pick
up .5 to 1 MPG in mileage. Programming is $175

I know its cheaper than a tunner and many reccomend a pcm flash. I would def go wih
93octane. what do you think?Thanks
Michael

Default RE: Pogramming worth it??

I was planning on a PCM4Less tune on my Rainier, but am looking for someone closer to do the tune. I know that these guys know what they are doing, but I'd like to have someone local incase something isn't quite right with it. But then again, I may just get HPTuners and fiddle around myself.

I hope that they are a bit conservative on their spark advance though... The 4.3L has a horrible propensity for spark knock even on stock tuning. And the 4.3L doesn't have much, if any real torque management like the newer motors have. My Rainier is horribly restricted in 1st gear!
