stock air cleaner box

will it do any good to cut the bottom out of my stock air cleaner to allow more air in? will i gain anything buy doing it? or should i just spend 200$ on a cold air intake?

Removing the bottom will be letting hot engine compartment air into the air intake system - just the opposite of what you want. Installing a CAI is up to you, I have my own opinion.

There are alot of cold air intakes alot less expensive go to E-Bay and look around some great deals there...........

Take a look around the Headers, Intake, & Exhaust section. The topic of intakes has been discussed quite a bit in the past with quite a bit of theory and a lot of good, cheap ideas.
