blazer making weird grinding noise

Sounds like its coming from rear drivers side. Worse when I brake

Could be a broken tooth in the rear end. I heard that noise when the cap fell off my u joint right before the drive shaft fell off. Any more details when it started?

Yesterday after I'd just gotten off the highway. I thought something was dragging but I checked and no drag

Wow. Sounds the rear is grenaded. Jack up the rear of the truck in neutral. Spin the wheels by hand to narrow it down.
