Default 1998 Chevy Blazer rear axle

Can the rear axle of the 4 door, 4 wheel drive 1998 Blazer be replaced with an axle from another vehicle? Of course it needs to be compatible

If the vehicle has the same gear ratio and your looking for that wide of an axle, I'm sure you can make it fit on any vehicle....

my HUGE problem is that I’m in Ecuador. No one here Can find an axle from a “mini blazer”. That’s what they call them here. The axle actually broke and the wheel cane off. I was told by one mechanic that he found one in Colombia for $465. Yikes.

i was hoping that one from another GM model vehicle might work. I know nothing unfortunately.

A zr2 chevy s10 would work, as long as it's the whole axle, and itll bring the wheels "level" with the front, but you want to make sure that the chevy s10 or gmc sonoma is 4x4 as well. Gmc jimmy works and oldsmobile bravada.

I believe the isuzu hombre has the same axle, again 4x4.

maybe want to look into those models, and see if someone else chimes in.

Back in the day I put a 3:73 posi trac from a 1978 firebird in a 1992 S10 pickup. They haven’t really changed the drivetrain through all the years of ‘S series’ trucks. It brought the wheels out to the same width as the front and all I had to do was change the spring perches. Those rearends are likely pretty common. Though I don’t know how many Camaro’s are in Central America. I’m not sure about full size trucks.
maybe dig around here on the full size blazer section for a width of the rearend.

Are you looking for the whole axle assembly, or just an axle shaft? If you just need a shaft, I would think there are probably a million of them in Mexico. Shipping would be crazy, but not $465. If you need the whole assembly, It will definitely cost that much.
