1999 s-10 blazer can't get it out of 4wd

Default 1999 s-10 blazer can't get it out of 4wd
it goes into 4wd fine but when i push the button for 2hi it just clicks and the light flashes and stays in 4wd. with alot of messing around i.e. putting in reverse, nuetral, turning the engine off and restarting it it will come out eventually. a real pain, wanted to know if anyone can tell me what is wrong?

bad switch on the dash is my guess.

3 switches 2hi 4hi and 4 low
