Default 2000 Chevy Blazer Service 4wd Light on but no indicator lights on 4wd switch

Hi. This is the second time this has happened. I had a service 4wd light pop up on dash and the indicator lights on the switch will not come on. The briefly light up when starting the vehicle but that is it. I replaced the 4wd switch and still the same result. Checked the fuses . Nothing there either. replaced the atc fuse also. Nothing. The last time this happened i simply unplugged the 4wd switch and plugged it back in and it worked fine for over a month after that. But this time nothing. Cannot get a code for it either. I read somewhere that if yo pill the #8 fuse while the engine is running and replace it 30 seconds later this will reset it but there is nothing labeling the #8 fuse under the dash. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I use the 4wd on a regular basis.
