2001 blazer lift help!?
first off im wanting to introduce myself as i am new to the forum. im Eli im 16 and my ride is a 2001 2dr 4x4 blazer its red with the spare tire on the back. its my first car so you know im gonna try to pimp it out to pick up the ladies haha.
i really want to lift this thing about 4 inches and throw some wheels and tires on it without breaking the bank.
does anyone know the best place to get a kit?
what price range am i looking at?
what should i avoid?
im gonna get rough country black steel wheels i think.
tires?
i dont want a "just for show" lift it needs to be functional me and my buddies go offroadin every weekend and i stay in the back cause i get stuck the most being stock with street tires and all. help and tips is greatly appreciated. i should have no problems with installation at school. im training to be an automotive technician

well if your on the cheap i would say body lift and t-crank with shackles.
that will be your best bet and you can clear 31's like that with a little trim maybe.
i would not crank the torsion bars more then 1.5"
the shackles you can get from synergy.com or ebay.
that right there will cost you maybe 100 or so.
body lift is 250 to 300 depending on what you do, and where you get it.
performance accessories makes a good kit...ebay or suspension parts site.
any serious lift like 5" or so will run you 1800.00 or so if you do it yourself.
and as far as wheels you have lots of options...stick with 4.5 to 6" back spacing though. cragar makes a couple nice ones...look around at the ride of the month winners and see what you like.
thats what i have for you based on my own exp.
good luck with your ride and the ladies...hope this helps

thanks for the help im actually planning on cranking to torsion bars tomorrow because it doesnt sit level for some reason. the thing im concerned with the body lift is youll be able to see the frame and it will look funny wont it?
Back spacing is how far in the rim the the bolts bolt up to. Stock blazer rims have 6" backspacing, so if you buy rims that have 5" backspacing the tires will stick out 1" more than stock. 3.75 may be a little too much and may cause strain on your steering components.
shackles cause component wear! according to nj4x4blaze "This lift is known to cause premature wear of CV boots, ball joints, idler arms and pitman arms due to the more severe angles created by the upper a-arms and t-bar crank. Although 2" to 3" can be achieved using this lift, that is the maximum and will increase wear. " do i just need to keep them properly lubed with no mud?
hey whats with all the body lift haters???? jk
i ran t-bars cranked for couple years no issues at +1.5"
only thing that did happen was a boot slipped off, that though is a cheap fix.
just repack the lube and toss a large adjustable clamp on it...done and done for 3.00
i have ran my passenger cv like that for along time...no issues at all.
