2002 Blazer Noise in 2WD Gone in 4WD
Hello,
My 2002 Blazer 2 Door has a terrible noise only in 2WD. Sounds like it's coming from the front possibly right side. It's similiar to when we were kids and used to put a card between our spokes on our bikes. As soon as you put it in 4WD or 4 Low the noise is completely gone. I'm wanting to use this truck to go away this weekend so any help would be greatly appreciated. I should mention the noise only occurs on rotation of the Wheel/Axle as oppose to being still.
Thanks very much,
DBC

Does it sound like grinding gears? Something may not be dissengaging properly and if that's the case I wouldn't drive it while it's making that noise. You'll do more damage than good.
Someone else may have a definite answer for you, like Swartlkk if he's around.

Yes, it definitely could.
Follow the cable up from the passenger side of the front differential into the engine compartment. I think on this vintage of s-series truck, the cable runs up to the vacuum actuator that is located on the passenger side inner fender.

I thought the problem corrected itself as all of sudden all the noise was gone! However when I try putting it back in 4x4 the light on the dash just blinks and I hear a clicking under the glove box but it remains in 2WD. Could this still be the engagement cable?
Thanks,
