Default 2002 pitman arm causing leak?

My 2002 doesn't have a rack in pinion just the old fashion center link. While trying to diagnose a fluid leak I noticed the "pitman" arm has loosene up and leaking out of the gearbox. Can I buy seals for it? I can't find them and am trying to find my 32mm wrench to tighten it up. Anyone else encounter this problem?

Tightening the nut will not help. The nut has a specific torque when installing the pitman arm. The sector shaft seal can be replaced seperately. However, usually the sector shaft sealing surface is rusted or corroded causing the seal to leak. And if the sector shaft moves in the gear box, you're better off installing a remanufactured gear box.

Sector shaft was fine however i found the cause of the leak pretty quickly after removing the pitman arm. The seals were replaced before by the dealer im assuming because my dad is the 2nd owner(got it from a dealer who leased it). The seals were installed backwards and then jammed more seals in front of the snap ring. Had to use a drill and screws to pull them out but after a through cleaning and new seals the leak is gone.

Nice. That shows the importance of finding a competent technician, or do your homework and do it yourself. Glad you found the problem, and thanks for posting back.
