Default 2003 Blazer stuck in 4 hi

Hello guys and girls, I have a 2003 Blazer ZR2 with 4 button switch, I but the truck cheap because he didn't know how to fix this issue, it will stay in 4hi, the front diff is engaged, i have unplugged the elec connector from the vacuum switch on the fire wall and that keeps it in 2wd, all the light on the dash switch seem to be lighting according to the corresponding button I push but I will blink and either eventually stay light on 4 hi, keep blinking 4hi, or all the lights will go off. I can here something in the dash or kick panel trying to click or work when selecting a button, any ideas? Sorry so lengthy.
Oh and he told me this all started after he had to jump start the truck, it was sitting for a month or so.

Default Think I found the issue

So when I am pressing the buttons on the dash switch I can hear the transfer case motor making a grindy buzzing noise each time I try toshift from 4 to 2wd so I'm pretty sure it's the TC motor
